We kick off our 2023 series with the brilliant trumpeter Jonny Bruce and his phenomenal Organ Quartet. Joining Jonny in the front-line is the highly rated tenor saxophonist Greg Sterland. The line-up is completed by two of the most exciting young musicians to have emerged on to the Bristol scene in years, the superb keyboard player Guy Shotton and on drums it's the effervescent Alex Goodyear.

This was the band who launched our Autumn 22 season and the gig such a success we just had to ask them back to help get 2023 off with a bang. Don't miss it, this is going to be a good one.

Jonny Bruce is a superb trumpeter, based in Bristol but with a national reputation. He is fluent in the whole history of jazz trumpet as he demonstrated some years back in his Trumpet Kings project, in which he covered pieces from Louis Armstrong through to Freddie Hubbard. You may have seen him playing around Bristol with the Moscow Drug Club, Brass Junkies and the Dockside Latin Orchestra. He also played lead trumpet in a Harry James style with the Bruce/Ilett Big Band, which headlined the Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival for several years running.

For this Hammond organ based line-up Jonny has put together a hard-bop and Blue Note style set, including tunes from Roy Hargrove, Horace Silver, Charles Mingus and Stan Getz.
