About the event
Daniel Newberry - tenor sax, Jake McMurchie - tenor sax, Nick Kacal - double bass, Alex Goodyear - drums
A new line-up performing a playful mix of bop and groove, inspired by Ornette Coleman and Joshua Redman's chordless ensembles.
Jake McMurchie is internationally recognised for his work with Get The Blessing, and also recently appeared at the club with his jazz/electronica project Michelson Morley. Joining Jake in the front-line is Dan Newberry, also on tenor sax.
Dan is still studying for a Masters at the Royal Welsh College and has become a favourite with Bristol audiences over the past few years with his huge tone and stylistic versatility.
Bassist Nick Kacal has previously lived in Manchester and London, but has now relocated to South Wales. He frequently tours with pianist Dom Pipkin.
Alex Goodyear is a rising star of UK jazz with his dynamic and engaging drum solos, and has recently toured Europe with John Law's Recreations project.
